Apraxia intervention program

In order for speech to occur, messages need to go from your brain to your mouth. These messages tell the muscles how and when to move to make sounds. When a child has apraxia of speech, the messages do not get through correctly. A child with CAS knows what they want to say. The problem is not how the child thinks but how the brain tells the mouth muscles to move. The Apraxia program in the speech clinic focuses on multi modality treatment approach by combining tactile kinesthetic cues auditory and visual along with building the oral motor musculature. The following approaches are used in combination depending on the need of the child. .

  • PROMPT
  • Beckman Oral Motor approach
  • Oral placement Therapy
  • Talktools sensory motor approach for apraxia
  • The Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol (K-SLP)

About Apraxia Intervention Program

Welcome to The Speech Clinic Dubai, a premier clinic in Dubai offering specialized Apraxia Intervention Programs. Our dedicated team of speech-language pathologists is committed to helping individuals with apraxia of speech overcome communication challenges and develop effective communication skills. Through evidence-based assessment and intervention techniques, we provide personalized therapy programs tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Understanding Apraxia of Speech

Apraxia of speech is a motor speech disorder that affects an individual's ability to plan and execute the movements necessary for speech production. It can result in difficulty coordinating the movements of the lips, tongue, and jaw, leading to inconsistent or distorted speech sounds. Apraxia of speech can occur in both children and adults and may be associated with other conditions such as neurological disorders or brain injuries.

Our Approach

At The Speech Clinic Dubai, we employ a comprehensive and individualized approach to Apraxia Intervention Programs. Our goal is to improve speech production, intelligibility, and overall communication skills by targeting the underlying motor planning and coordination difficulties associated with apraxia of speech.

Comprehensive Assessment

Our team begins with a thorough assessment of the individual's speech and language skills, including an evaluation of their motor planning and coordination abilities. We utilize standardized assessments, observation, and clinical expertise to gain a comprehensive understanding of the specific challenges the individual is facing.

Individualized Intervention Plans

Based on the assessment results, our highly skilled speech-language pathologists develop individualized intervention plans that address the unique needs and goals of each client. These plans incorporate a range of evidence-based techniques and strategies to target motor planning and coordination, speech sound production, and overall communication skills.

Multisensory Approach

Our Apraxia Intervention Programs at The Speech Clinic employ a multisensory approach to facilitate motor learning and improve speech production. We utilize visual, auditory, and tactile cues, along with repetition and practice, to help individuals develop accurate and fluent speech movements.

Parent and Family Involvement

We strongly believe in the importance of involving parents and families in the intervention process. Our therapists provide guidance, education, and support to parents and caregivers, equipping them with strategies and techniques to reinforce therapy goals at home and in everyday situations. This collaboration promotes consistent progress and enhances the individual's overall communication development.
